Welcome to the first blog post of Nordic Women in STEM (NWiSTEM). I would like to share with you the reason I started this page. I am a BSc. Electrical engineering student in Denmark, I have been a first-hand witness of how small a portion of STEM fields are filled with women. The basis of Nordic Women in STEM (NWiSTEM) lies in the realisation of just that. I have ever since I started university wanted to serve as a helpful role to those seeking inspiration, help, or advice regarding the STEM fields. I finally decided to own that role and be intentional about it.
I founded NWiSTEM with a goal of being able to inspire young girls in the Nordic region by making a platform for women already in the STEM fields to voice their stories. The ultimate goal is to work towards narrowing the gender gap that exists today. My goal is to translate discussion and theory to concrete actions and passionate activism.
